Job Description

Responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality-conscious installation, maintenance, and modification of electrical systems related to terminal operations. Ensure all work consistently meets or exceeds expectations and adheres to published policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on electrical/electronic equipment and components.

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning electrical/electronic equipment and components.

  • Test electrical systems and continuity in wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure system compatibility and safety.

  • Perform routine troubleshooting activities with electrical systems and electronics.

  • Coordinate with manufacturer representatives regarding current procedures and requirements.

  • Complete documentation and paperwork; maintain upkeep of maintenance files.

  • Respond to emergency call-outs for maintenance duties.

  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Execute any other terminal functions as trained, requested, and instructed by supervision.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated work experience in the instrumentation/electrical field.

  • Thorough knowledge and application of EH&S and Preventive Maintenance procedures and programs.

  • Working knowledge of high/medium and low voltage power systems and equipment, as well as various instrumentation and control devices.

  • Ability to read E&I diagrams and drawings.

  • Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with controls, PLCs, motors, and actuators preferred.

  • Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical/electronic equipment and components.

  • Demonstrated aptitude to execute customer orders and maintain necessary records.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC (not required).

Work outdoors in shipping terminals, often in dirty conditions and near coal. Be prepared for rain or shine and long hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00/hr.
