What you’ll need to succeed as a Lead Technician at XPOMinimum qualifications:4 years of related work experience or military experienceA valid driver’s licenseStrong computer skillsBrake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19Able to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)Prior mechanical experience in the automotive industry or skilled tradesAvailable to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends Preferred qualifications:3 years of hands-on experience as a fleet technician Tractor and trailer experience Forklift repair knowledge ASE Master MD/HD truck certificationDiesel tech school diploma Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) About the Lead Technician jobPay, benefits and more:Expected pay: $45.14 per hour including Master Certification and shift differentialAfternoon Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM Company-provided uniformsTool allowance of $400 per quarter This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position Full health insurance benefits on day one Life and disability insurance Earn up to 13 days of PTO over your first year, with accruals starting on day one9 paid company holidays 401(k) option with company match Education assistance What you’ll do on a typical day:Schedule and supervise shop personnelOrder parts and manage vendorsEnsure technicians receive the required trainingPerform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of class 7 and 8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment in compliance with the manufacturer’s and company’s schedulesSafely access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under parts of vehicles and trailersApply knowledge of and work by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); follow all rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and lead your team to do the sameRepair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systemsMove trailers throughout the propertyOperate a hostler in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods Lead Technicians are required to:Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights frequently up to 50 lbs. And occasionally greater than 75 lbs.
