Position OverviewThis is a position in which KU students will actively promote and market KU Recreation Services (KURS) to students, faculty and staff of the KU Community. Job Description50% - Create, post, and schedule social media posts for events and notifications for KURS including Fitness, Intramurals, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Pursuits, Open Recreation.
- Do Live videos for events
- Assist in taking photos and videos
20% - Promoting events, programs, services and facilities at various locations on campus.
- Tabling Events (Wescoe Beach, Kansas Union, etc.)
- Schedule and visit student organizations
- Schedule and visit Greek houses
- Promote KURS special events (Rock the Rec, Jayhawk Fitness Challenge, Movn with the Rec 5k)
20% - Assist in developing and delivering a marketing plan to promote KURS.
10% - Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
- Experience creating social media posts for Instagram, Tik Tok and others as shown in application materials.
- Experience with photography and videography as shown in application materials.
- Experience with public speaking as shown in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred major in: Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Strategic Communications, Public Speaking and similar.
- Excited to share information about KURS to engage students, faculty and staff.
Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are
not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
